Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a long standing, spiritually rich, biblically-based curriculum for children. We engage this curriculum in our children’s chapel time during each Sunday service. The time includes catechesis (religious instruction) for children ages (3-10) through scripture, song, and tactile work.
This approach is Montessori-based and offers age-appropriate lessons given in large and small groups alike as the children move to quiet, prayerful, reflective activities. All participants are given lessons in prayer and lessons in caring for the classroom, which fosters community, concentration, and independent work. As our year together progresses these lessons extend to the sacraments, liturgy, the life of Jesus, and Jesus’s parables on the Kingdom of God.
Our classroom (“The Atrium”) provides a space that is conducive to prayer, and just as the atriums of old European churches sat just outside the entryway sanctuary, so our Atrium is an introduction to the Christian life and all the riches and graces God has given the Church.
